Venables Theatre is seeking a summer student who is eager to get involved in the performing arts. We are looking for a self-starter who is fun, friendly and hard working. This position is for a minimum of 30 hours per week with a wage of $19.00 per hour. The contract starts May 2nd and ends June 30th, with an opportunity to stay on for special projects in the future. The position includes a variety of duties as follows:

Daytime Box Office Sales

• Customer service – greet guests in a friendly and courteous manner
• Assist customers over the phone and in person to purchase tickets
• Assist with other office administration and promotions as needed

Event Nights

• Assist with theatre events. Tasks may include concession operation, rental group supervision, merchandise sales, volunteer support and normal ticketing operations
• Other duties may also be assigned

Qualifications

• Candidates must have excellent customer service skills
• Some fluency in database software
• Cash handling and credit card transactions.
• Must hold or be willing to acquire a Serving it Right certificate.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule and work nights
• Must be a self starter and able to work with little or no supervision
• Event production experience is an asset
• This job is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program and candidates must be under the age of 30.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 2 months

Salary: $19.00 per hour

• Oliver, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

• Venue & Attractions Associates: 1 year (preferred)
