    Focus

    CFP’s Osoyoos packing facility receives fruit (including cherries, stone fruit, pears, and apples) in bulk from Okanagan-based growers and sorts it for quality and size before packaging it for shipment to our domestic and international customers. Supporting employees, supervisors, and managers by ensuring tasks are completed in a safe and timely manner and ensuring customer specifications are adhered to are important parts of ensuring the quality of produce for our customers.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Efficient, clean, organized, and safe set-up and supervision of production lines, including:
    • Supervise, coach, train and set up production line employees for quality
    • Coordinate grower changes and line change overs as they occur to sales orders
    • Ensure quality assessment equipment is checked and maintained
    • Identify, communicate, troubleshoot and/or escalate quality control issues to Production Supervisor
    • Improve productivity and efficiency by:
    • Assisting production line employees in a hands-on manner, providing guidance and coaching on quality-related job tasks
    • Ensuring the grading queue (Aurora), PLU machine and SIMS computer are properly set up for the packing line prior to start-up
    • Acting as a floater on the packing line, performing packer, sorter, box filler tasks as needed in any spare time not dedicated to quality control tasks
    • Ensure fruit is packed to required quality specifications and food safety standards by:
    • Performing and/or ensuring quality control checks are done at regular intervals on the packing line and on packed product and completing all related documentation
    • Setting up SIMS computer and monitoring Aurora system during packing, making adjustments as needed and resolving overweight/underweight cases as needed
    • Operate equipment to analyze fruit for export, including brix apparatus, pressure tester, Durafil, and Firm tech
    • Assist in assessing incoming fruit for quality as needed
    • Assist with product inspections at shipping point
    • Participate in inventory counts
    • Report any maintenance and safety issues to QC Supervisor
    • Contribute to continuous improvement in systems and procedures to achieve production objectives
    • Completion of other responsibilities as assigned

    Education and Experience

    • Supervisory and training experience are assets
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn in-house software programs (including Sky and Aurora)
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Dynamics 365 is an asset
    • Knowledge of quality control procedures
    • Occupational Health and Safety training is an asset
    • Food Safety training is an asset
    • Knowledge of a second language is an asset
    • First Aid training is an asset
    • Previous agriculture and/or packing facility experience is an asset

    Working Conditions

    Work is mainly conducted indoors at a fruit packing plant environment and can be subject to extreme temperature conditions. This position is full-time. Plant operating hours are dependent on crop, production, and shipping needs, with extended hours and seven-day-a-week operations typical through peak months (i.e., June through October). Positions are seasonal, with limited days off and extended hours as necessary through peak months (i.e. June through October).
