    Salary: $55,000 to $65,000 annually

    CFP’s Osoyoos packing facility receives fruit (including cherries, stone fruit, pears, and apples) in bulk from Okanagan-based growers and sorts it for quality and size before packaging it for shipment to our domestic and international customers. Safe, seamless production flow and shipping procedures, adherence to customer specifications, quality control, and grower relations are important aspects of ensuring the quality of produce for our customers.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Work closely with other members of the management team to achieve production, quality, and shipping goals while maintaining safe work operations
    • Create and manage hourly employees’ work schedules
    • Efficient, clean, organized, and safe supervision of shipping and receiving, including: Supervise, coach, and train employees; Allocate employees to shipping/receiving stations and to the Oliver warehouse; Supervise the receiving of incoming fruit from growers to ensure compliance with quality specifications and standards; Coordinate outbound transportation of bins and fruit; Accurate and efficient inter-warehouse transfers; Ensure compliance with export procedures during shipping and receiving and act as a liaison with the Canada Food Inspection Agency; Ensure equipment is checked and maintained
    • Ensure appropriate cooler management, including rotation of fruit as required, first-in, first-out
    • Ensure appropriate bin management, including: Conducting bin inventory; Monitoring bin conditions; Liaising with Logistics Coordinator in allocating bins among various sites
    • Identify, communicate, troubleshoot and/or escalate issues to appropriate member(s) of management for resolution
    • Analyze packinghouse operations, identify areas for improvement, and implement action plans to execute improvement
    • Develop Performance metrics and targets consistent with overall business goals
    • Ensure employees follow all legislative and organizational policies and procedures
    • Ensure compliance with customer specifications and standards regarding packaging and quality
    • Participate in monthly inventory process (Osoyoos facility and Oliver warehouse)
    • Contribute to continuous improvement in systems and procedures
    • Work with Food Safety Team to ensure compliance with all legislative and organizational policies and procedures
    • Participate as a member of the Health and Safety Committee
    • Completion of other responsibilities as assigned.

    Education & Experience

    • Minimum of three years of experience supervising employees
    • Minimum of one year of experience in food safety and quality control procedures
    • Proficiency in English communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Proficiency in computer software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)
    • Forklift certification
    • Minimum of one year of experience in health and safety procedures
    • Minimum of one year of experience in agriculture/horticulture and produce packing facility experience

    Working conditions

    Work is conducted indoors and outdoors at a fruit processing plant environment and can be subject to extreme temperature conditions. This position is full-time. Plant operating hours are dependent on crop, production, and shipping needs, with extended hours and seven-day-a-week operations typical, with extremely limited days off through peak months (i.e. June through October).

    Physical requirements

    • Frequent standing and walking, including climbing stairs
    • Occasional to frequent sitting on and climbing on and off of forklift, including ability to grasp, manipulate, and move levers, foot pedals, and steering wheel knobs
    • Frequent lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, stacking, and carrying of up to 25 kilograms (50 pounds)
