Public Works Superintendent
The Resort Municipality of Osoyoos, BC, located in the beautiful south Okanagan Valley, is accepting applications for a full-time exempt Public Works Superintendent.
Reporting to the Director of Operational Services, the Town of Osoyoos is seeking a motivated individual to coordinate, assign and review the work of approximately 10-15 staff in the Operational Services Department. The ideal candidate would have strong communication and leadership skills to lead the Public Works side of the department. The Public Works Superintendent works cooperatively and collaboratively with diverse work groups in the organization and can establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, external agencies, and organizations and liaise effectively with other Departments.
This position plans and develops strategies for the most effective use of available resources to complete the numerous maintenance activities the Operations Department performs daily. These activities will include the operation and maintenance of roads, parks, and the Town’s Cemetery.
The successful candidate will provide input on hiring external contractors for various maintenance activities, administer the commissioning process for each capital asset, and verify that inspections, approvals, certificates, warranties, operating and maintenance manuals, and as- built drawings have been completed. This position also provides input in the planning for future infrastructure needs and troubleshoots all aspects of the Operation Department.
The ideal candidate has 5-10 years of related experience in the operation and maintenance of parks, green space, roads, fleet, facilities, and Cemetery management and 2-3 years of supervisory experience. Formal training in parks and road maintenance, an undergraduate degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, or a Diploma in Civil Engineering would be preferred.
