POST AGM Update
We recently hosted our first ever virtual Annual General Meeting on September 16 and we thank everyone who was able to join us. Our Board was declared for the year and it is good to see a diverse and well-rounded group of individuals who are dedicated to the success and health and well being of our South Okanagan communities.
Representing the Okanagan Falls and area business community is Helen Shemilt from Interior Savings and Jim Georgeson from Okanagan Falls Center for Dentistry.
Oliver has George Machado from TreeHuggers Services / Removals, Gail Scott, Community and Economic Development Consultant, Bob Urbanovitch from Interior Savings and Mike Johnson from Tinhorn Creek. Alberto Veintimilla from Alberto’s Decorating and Underfoot Flooring is our Past President.
Osoyoos Board Members include Greg Sol from Osoyoos Credit Union, Sara van der Hoeven from Watermark Beach Resort and Davinder Sandhu from Century 21 Premier Properties.
Our Team has been working hard this year on several projects and campaigns, so it was also nice to share an official update of our progress and our strategy moving forward. A quick summary is that we are focusing on the 5 C’s. Which include CONNECTION, COACHING, COMMUNICATION, CHAMPION, AND COLLABORATION. (Our Story page on our website has all the details on this!)
Wrapping up the evening we hosted a virtual networking session. Of course, not the same as our regular in person events but it was still great to see everyone and hear how some of our local businesses are doing. Not surprisingly, there are some businesses and industries that have done very well and other businesses and organizations that are struggling as they work their way through the new guidelines and restrictions and see a reduced amount of events, customers and clients. Winter is going to be tough for many so please think local and shop local whenever possible. It has always been important - but now it is even more important for all of us to be intentional about where we spend our money – our focus – and our time.
Visit www.sochamber.ca to find out more information about our team, our strategies and our members. We are your LOCAL organization focused on building a strong, resilient, and empowered business community. Please get connected with us on social media as well to see what our community is up to and consider becoming a member today. The more #socommunitybuilders that we have on the same page and investing and working towards the same goals, the better off our communities will be. #qualityoflife
