President, Alberto Veintimilla - Alberto's Decorating Centre & Underfoot Flooring, Oliver
Alberto is a local businessman who owns Alberto’s Decorating Centre and Underfoot Flooring in Oliver with his wife, Tracy. Alberto began his career in the construction industry working as a project manager before earning a diploma in Building Construction Engineering Technology. He has served on various boards over the years, including the Oliver Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Paint and Decorating Retail Association (President 1999-2000). He was the Western Canada Chair of Sears Floor and Window Covering Centers in the early 2000s. Since arriving in Oliver in 1984, Alberto has continually expanded his business and invested in the local community as he believes strongly in supporting the local economy, local sustainability, and growth. He looks forward to working with the South Okanagan Chamber of Commerce to support and promote business growth in Oliver,Osoyoos, and OK Falls.
Treasurer, Jim King – CLR & Associates, Osoyoos
Jim King was born in Vancouver and lived in the greater Vancouver area all his life until Jim and his wife Cheryle moved to Osoyoos in 2007. Jim was in business for himself for over 25 years, Executive Director for Surrey Crime Prevention for 12 years, and recipient of the Queens Jubilee Award. He was President of the Surrey Board of Trade 2003-04, and was involved with the Surrey Board of Trade (Chamber of Commerce) for over 25 years. Jim became active with groups in the area soon after moving to Osoyoos and was Treasurer for the South Okanagan Chamber of Commerce 2009-2012, Director of Community Futures Okanagan Similkameen, and Director of the Rotary Club of Osoyoos. Jim is presently serving his second term on Council with the Town of Osoyoos.
Jim and Cheryle have a blended family of 5 children,15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren that love coming to Osoyoos. He believes you need to get involved in your community to help make a difference.
Director, Eileen McGinn - Realtor, Remax Realty Solutions
I was on the South Okanagan Chamber of Commerce Board from 2014 – 2017, and was Vice President in the last year.
In 2018 I received the Remax Community Citizenship Award in recognition of outstanding community engagement and fundraising leadership; I was also awarded the Remax Platinum Club Award. I bring many years’ experience as a former VP of sales and marketing with a publicly traded company in land development and housing, including modular and industrial camps. I am also a certified negotiation expert and former professional sales trainer.
Director, Helen Shemilt - Interior Savings Credit Union Okanagan Falls
My name is Helen Shemilt, I am the Branch Manager at Interior Savings in Okanagan Falls. I have been Branch Manager since 2013 and worked at Interior Savings over 30 years. I have five grown children and eight grandchildren.
Currently, I volunteer in my community with the local Helping Hand, we provide Emergency Hampers and Christmas Hampers to those in need. My speciality is the toy committee for the children. I also volunteer my time attending the Okanagan Falls Community Partners meetings. At our meetings, we meet to discuss local Community Group events, issues and anything that is a concern in our Community. I grew up in Oliver, moving to Okanagan Falls in 1991. Growing up my family had several businesses in Oliver. I look forward to representing the Community of Okanagan Falls at the Chamber of Commerce South Okanagan.
Director, Greg Sol - CEO Osoyoos Credit Union
Greg is a community-minded person by nature and is always striving for excellence when serving members and clients. He has been in the Financial Services Industry for most of his career, with the last 4 years being at the Osoyoos Credit Union. He has over 10 years serving on non-profit boards in the Okanagan and is excited to be part of the Chamber of Commerce.
Director, Bob Urbanovitch - Branch Manager, Interior Savings Credit Union Oliver
Bob has been in the Financial Services Industry for most of his career and prides himself on coaching people to financial success. He looks forward to supporting the Chamber and the South Okanagan region on the path to economic prosperity and community well being.
Director, Robin Irwin - RDOS, Economic Development Coordinator Okanagan Falls
Prior to RDOS, Robin's past position was Natural Resources Manager with the Upper Similkameen Indian Band. She brings lots of experience in working with government and communities in non-profit arts, culture and tourism-focused projects and initiatives.
Prior to USIB, Robin managed the Princeton Museum for 6 years coordinating staff, grant writing and developing cultural and educational programs and events. Her background in film production and set design was the experience necessary to coordinate the 2010 renovation and complete redesign of the facility.
A recent move to Okanagan Falls and the opportunity to work with community groups and help develop strategic direction for the community of Okanagan Falls is an exciting endeavor. Robin looks forward to making connections and developing projects that will help move OK Falls forward on a healthy economic path.
